STAR London show cancelled - Posted October 27th

Due to a last minute work permit technicality, Radio Birdman had to reluctantly cancel its London show. The band is devastated for fans and the band apologises. This is Radio Birdman's first-ever cancellation in 30-plus years and cost them substantial money in re-arranged fares. Work permits had been paid for but, for reasons not clear, somehow one did not appear in the system. Immigration authorities were adamant, however, that one member was not going to be admitted to the UK - even as a tourist - as they knew he'd play the gig which had attracted good pre-sale support. The band would have played in London for free if they would have let us in on that basis. This turn of events was too much for Russell Hopkinson who has quit the band. The remaining gigs will be played with Joel Perdue on drums.Radio Birdman planned to take off most of 2008 so members could write and work on other projects. The band has not broken up.

STAR European dates announced - Posted July 31st

The itinerary for Radio Birdman's European tour is on the Dates page.

STAR Sympathies to the Hoyle family - Posted July 21st

It is with deep regret that we announce Pip Hoyle's son, Will, passed away suddenly after a short illness on the day of Radio Birdman's induction into the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame in Melbourne. Pip had missed the North American tour to be with his son. The band (without Pip and with Murray Shepherd deputising on drums for Russell Hopkinson) played two songs at the ceremony under the weight of this devastating news. Fans will join the band in extending deep sympathies to Pip, Sally and Alexander. Will's funeral will be at St Andrew's Cathederal, Sydney, at 10am on Tuesday, July 24.

Wednesday sees Radio Birdman inducted into the Australian ARIA Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Melbourne with guest drummer Murray Shepherd (Screaming Tribesmen, Lime Spiders, The Ride Ons et al) behind the kit as Russell Hopkinson is on You Am I commitments in the United States. Longtime fan, Silverchair's Daniel Johns, will induct the band.

Radio Birdman is off on a national tour in tandem with the headlining Hoodoo Gurus and The Stems in Australia in September. Check out the dates section for details - and watch out for European tour listings very soon.

STAR Monday night gig in Dallas cancelled - June 23rd 2007

Circumstances beyond the band's control have regrettably cancelled Monday night's show in Dallas. Ticketholders should apply at booking outlets for a refund.

STAR Pip Hoyle off US tour - June 19th 2007

Due to family illness, Pip had to cancel his involvement in the US tour. We expect him to return to the lineup as soon as he is able to do so, most likely he will be on board for the next Australian tour.

STAR US/Canadian Dates Announced - May 13th 2007

The band's full US and Canadian itinerary has now been announced. All the dates can now be viewed on our dates page. Two Australian warm up shows have also been announced.   check out dates.

STAR Australian Hall of Fame - May 13th 2007

The band has been nominated into the Australian Music Hall of Fame. The event will be held in Melbourne on July 18th so the band will fly directly to Melbourne from their last US date in Denver. The occasion will be recorded and screened within a fortnight although at this time it is not known whether this will be on a cable music channel or the national ABC network.

STAR September/October Plans - May 13th 2007

Mid September looks like being the time for the band's next full set of Australian east coast dates. These seems likely to include Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Following this they will leave immediately for a month in Europe. Quite a few places not visited on the last tour will be on the agenda this time round which means that Norway, Sweden, Austria and Belgium will get to see the band. Demand has been great in quite a few places blitzed on the last tour so also expect to see them back in places like Paris, Berlin and London...
